83,1% Of all residential building activity in South Africa - in terms of buildings completed in the period Jan-Aug 2019 - took place in Gauteng (58,1% / 18 842 units completed) and the Western Cape (25% / 8 111 units).
Only 16,9% of all residential building activity took place in the other 9 provinces combined - of which 6,3% or 2 032 new residential buildings were completed in Kwazulu-Natal.
The 8 poorest provinces (with the smallest local economies) in South Africa therefore only experienced 10,6% of all residential building activities - which is not a positive indicator for future growth in their local property markets.
